Cupcakes, samurais: What next on the Indian ramp?

We bring you a round-up of showings by Harangad Singh, VJ Balhara and more!

Day Three at Lakme Fashion Week has seen some unique themes and quirky inspirations so far. Here's a glimpse of the best designs by Raman Vij, Ruchika Sachdeva, Shivaji Dutta, Harangad Singh and VJ Balhara.

We start off with the rather practical and chic stylings of Harangad Singh -- seen here is a pretty silk cocktail set off by glossy patent heels.

Serene sari

Next up is this pale but elegant sari in grey with a matte gold border.

Silvery chic

Feminine and flirty, this pretty silver number is just the thing for a night on the town.

Kaftan couture

The designer offers up a black kaftan maxi with a cinched waist and gold border detailing.

True blue

Singh's collection is rounded off by Tamara Moss in this striking blue dress with sheer sleeves.

Sweet-tooth inspiration

VJ Balhara seems like a major pastry fan -- all his outfits were embellished with little pastry headpieces like you see here, teamed with a lovely pleated dual-layer ensemble.

Very strawberry

Strawberry drop crotch pants are teamed with a pretty flairing top and crop jacket.

Plenty of flounce

Grey with a green lining, this mini shows off plenty of flounce.

Let it flow

Minis make way for maxis with this flowing grey and fuschia outfit.

Blue icing

Balhara sends out a powder-blue floor-sweeper with puffed sleeves, teamed with a bolero.

Rags to riches

Shivaji Dutta's line from label 'BlankSpot' was created entirely from discarded pieces of fabric to promote reusing old garments and prevent people throwing them away. The all-mini collection debuted with this black and grey slimfit number.

Weave vibe

Next up is this cross-over detail weave dress.

Safety pin style

The designer even used safety pins to embellish black stockings teamed with the dresses.

Pushing for the pinafore

Zippered diagonally up the front, a pinafore is teamed with this distressed white tee.

Knack for black

Dutta's designs wound down with this black knee-length outfit modelled by Nicole Faria.

All about structure

Using an unconventional print technology with high-density silicon to create futuristic garments, Ruchika Sachdev's line called 'Bodice' drew inspiration from architecture, history and machinery. Boxy and rectangular silhouettes were the order of the day, like on this grey coat dress.

Colour blocking

Alesia Raut shows off a grey and pink colour-block bodysuit.

All about androgyny

A rather masculine double-breasted green jacket is softened with cut-outs at the shoulder and a front-opening maxi. The overall appeal is androgynous.

Sober palette

Greys and blacks were the mainstay of most designs, like this black bodysuit and jacket.

On-trend

Surelee Joseph closes the showing for Sachdeva in this mustard jacket and black scaled leggings.

Warrior knitwear

With a collection named 'Warriors of the Forbidden Kingdom', it was easy to guess that Raman Vij's inspiration for his winter designs were the samurai and ninja warriors of Japan. The knitwear designs showed intricate styling, like this one-sided dress worn by Alesia.

Warm and trendy

Next up is this green pleated sweater dress, teamed with matching legwarmers and grey leggings.

Dip-dye for dudes

With its unique dip-dye effect, this sherwani caught everyone's eye.

Flair for the unusual

We don't know what's up with the Mickey Mouse headgear, but that backless knit number is certainly hot!

Sizzling red

Vij's showing wound down with this hip-hugging red sweater dress.
