We bring you a round-up of showings by Archana Kochhar, Nishka Lulla, Jatin Varma and more!
Day One of Lakme saw a host of designers get into the mood of winter and festive creations that sparkled on the runway. Here's a quick look at the hottest catwalk offerings from Archana Kochhar, Nishka Lulla, Mayank Anand and Shraddha Nigam, Jatin Varma and Payal Singhal.
We kick off with the young, fresh inspiration of East-meets-West embodied in Nishka Lulla's line. The daughter of veteran designer Neeta Lulla, Nishka merged Indian motifs on fabrics like raw silk, silk satin, georgette, cotton and crepe along with Western and ethnic cuts to come up with some original creations like this fuschia sheer number, worn over a yellow bikini.
This colourful, peacock-motif lehenga was set off by a tube choli and teensy bolero jacket.
The young designer proved that high-end fashion runs in her blood with this stunning drape.
Nishka wound down her show with this light but stunning ethnic showstopper.
Jatin Varma opted to showcase his talent with elegant eveningwear, like this plunging cut-away halter gown.
Sweeping the floor with its train, this blue satin origami ensemble was a red carpet dream.
This shingle-sequinned mini had jaws dropping. Truly electric!
One of Varma's final designs on the runway, this one showed plenty of leg and strappy detailing.
Surelee Joseph makes an entrace for Archana Kochhar in this silver, tangerine-striped dress.
Grey can be sexy -- especially if it's Nicole Faria in a satin gown that hugs the contours of her slender frame.
Alesia Raut sails in wearing a beautiful cutwork bolero and swirling black skirt with sparkling citrus hem.
Kochhar's black and gold-tinged showstopper was modelled by Femina Miss India 2011 Ankita Shorey.
Light ethnicwear in feminine pastels were the mainstay of Payal Singhal's collection. Seen here is a powder blue ensemble -- don't miss the exquisite cutwork going up around the neck.
The designer offers up another delicate lehenga (this one in permanent pleats), with heavily embroidered choli.
With the rich maroon trim and every square inch covered in tasteful threadwork, this design is nothing short of bridal.
Shibani Dandekar was a vision in Singhal's showstopper, which mixed nude with pale blue ruffles.
And finally, there were the offerings of duo Mayank Anand and Shraddha Nigam, kicking off with this thigh-baring pewter-tone gown.

Billowing gently, this midi makes an impression thanks to the striking champagne hue.
Anand and Nigam team a sari with this Western checkered blouse for effect. Strangely, they seem to go well!
