Fashion Week: Backstage madness!

Witness the chaos that goes on behind the scenes at a Lakme Fashion Week showing!

The banquet halls of the Grand Hyatt have metamorphosed and a glamorous ramp runs through the middle. The calm and organised feel of the auditorium, however, is in stark contrast to the madness and mayhem that goes on backstage.

Rajesh Karkera offers us a glimpse into what was happening behind the scenes even as models stride onto the runway, looking cool as cucumbers.

JJ Valaya's collection was inspired by his passion for photography. The designer largely stuck to what he is most famous for -- drapes. Here, model Manasvi Mamgai's sari gets final touches from a stylist.

Minor adjustments

Ache break

Fashion is a serious business. As models will also tell you, it is a painful one too. Looking good doesn't come easy. Wearing all kinds of different shoes -- from high-heels to flats to Indian mojris like these can leave your foot begging for a massage. A model stretches her feet just before Valaya's show.

Always camera-ready

It was the end of a long day at the Lakme Fashion Week but that didn't seem to reflect even a bit on the faces of these models as they posed for shutterbugs.

Strike one more

And here are some more...

Calm before the storm

There are those few moments just before the show starts when everything just comes to a standstill. There's no activity, no chaos, no madness. Things just seem to pause. It all lasts barely a few seconds. A model takes a breather.

Ready for action

That's all folks! JJ Vallaya says that's all he has time for -- we have to leave. The maestro is all set to showcase his art.
