Here's a look at designer Shruti Sancheti's latest line, showcased on the third day of Lakme Fashion Week. Photographs: Rajesh Karkera
Shruti Sancheti's new collection 'Thar' was inspired by this desert region and accordingly created, with nomadic nuances employing Rajasthani Shibori, a form of tie-dye and Sindhi Tanka or Kutch stitch, also a trademark of the villages thereabout.
Saris worn with Jodhpuri pants, cowl trousers, ijjars or churidars and other layered garments came into focus, showing off a melange of colours like deep orange, mango yellow, indigo, royal purple and emerald.
Fashion designer-turned-politician Shaina NC performed the showstopping honour for Sancheti, but first we take a look at the other creations, starting with this brown and teal layered ensemble.
Backless and beautiful, a vibrant orange anarkali cascades to the floor.
Beautiful tribal embellishments adorn this attractive front-opening kurta and wide-leg pants.
Pale blue and dashing fuschia prints collide on this interesting drape.
The designer offers up a flowing emerald asymmetric kurta, teamed with trim blue pants.
The epitome of traditional Indian feminity, this earthy ensemble sports pretty tones and several layers.
It's desi fashion at its best with an array of blues, reds and greens on varying silhouettes.
A two-layered colour-block ghagra and kurta blend trends of East and West.
Deep green comes into focus once again with this jacket-sari combo.
Citrus dominates once more with this flattering, flowing number.
Shaina NC takes to the ramp in a lovely fuschia sari, complemented by impressive jewellery.
