The first show of the first day of Lakme Fashion Week started off with a bang as designers Ragini Ahuja, Stephany D'Souza, Sneha S Saha, Shubham Kumar, Karishma Jamwal and Debashree Samanta showed their designs. We bring you snapshots from the show.
Ragini Ahuja's collection, Brute comprised boxy canvas-like silhouettes featuring edgy geometric animal portraits.
Ahuja stuck to monochrome colours, choosing rather to experiment with prints and structure. Her line featured shirt blouses, pants, bodysuits and shorts among others.
Stephany D'Souza's collection screamed Goa as models showed off bright summery flowy dresses that didn't necessarily show an awful lot of creativity.
Model Sucheta Sharma walks the ramp in a Stephany D'Souza outfit.
Sneha S Saha's collection, Postage used natural hand-woven fabrics such as cotton, linen and silk and featured clock motifs. Kavita Kharayat walks the ramp in Saha's collection.
Model Candice Pinto shows off this single-piece dress with a printed motif teamed with a circular cape designed by Shubham Kumar
Prabhjot Uppal walks in a half-body covered jacket with printed strips along with a dhoti draped in a pair of trousers. Kumar's collection was entirely done in Khadi cotton.
Lotus Sutr by Karishma Jamwal's collection derived its inspiration from the unfinished nature of an artist's canvas. Even so her silhouettes were kitchy, easy-going and drapes contemporary.
Jamwal's colour palette was an eclectic mix of earthy, terra firma tones infused with bright, vibrant shades.
Debashree Samanta worked her magic with handloom yarns juxtaposing the earthy sensibility with avant-garde boldness creating edgy garments such as this one.
The collection featured, among other things, billowy bottoms and constructed couture jackets like the one Sucheta Sharma sports here.
