LFW's opening night :Body-bearing summer designs!
Designer Anamika Khanna marked the opening night of the LFW with an offsite showing yesterday. Check it out!
The venue was one of Mumbai's hottest resto-bars, Tote and the setting, with its muslin-draped trees and multiple ramps, was ideal for the launch of Lakme Fashion Week.
Anamika Khanna presented her spring/summer collection to the city's glitterati with an offsite showing that saw a dazzling array of ethereal garments float onto the runway. The feel of the line was ethnic, but it had distinct masculine touches in keeping with the new trend of androgyny that is sweeping through the international fashion scene.
As drummer duo Nirv-a-Funk churned out the beat, delicate mul kurtas, cutwork jackets, lehengas and more were offered up in hues of black, white, purple, red and grey. Take a look.
First up we have model Binal Trivedi, in a gathered white skirt complete with side pockets and a tummy-baring, fitted black blouse that shows embroidery along the shoulders and sleeves.
On the train trend
Next we see a white shirt and matching skin-tight leggings, set off by an exquisite beige-silver cutwork waistcoat and white train.
Commanding attention
Surelee Joseph steps out in relaxed wide-leg pants and a fitted white top, sporting minute embellishment at the neck. The ensemble is completed with a sheer collared jacket that ends in threadwork.
Fantastically floral
The designer shows off her cutwork skills with this beautiful white floral top, set off by another pocketed ethnic skirt.
A return to earthy roots
Alesia Raut shows off her slim silhouette in a brown pant-jacket set made from traditional textiles, once again with floral motif.
Mixing it right
Khanna goes for the perfect mix-and-match combo with this cropped white shirt sporting pretty silver embroidery at the neck and a voluminous, rich purple-gold ghagara.
Versatile verve
This rather trendy black top and red kurta are another study in contrasts, with just a single gold strip uniting them.
Luxury meets casual cool
All eyes were on this expertly crafted ethnic jacket with its luxurious white, red and silver tones, worn over rather casual pants.
Pink, purple and posh
We love the flow of this perma-pleated ghagara -- pink moves to purple and heavy threadwork, while the sharp white choli exercises its own impact on the overall look.
Layer upon layer
A sheer white zippered jacket extends to the ankles over floral leggings, while another cutwork masterpiece dominates the torso. A lesson in layering!
Going in circles
And finally we have a replay of the layering in black with circular motif and a dominantly green and white zippered waistcoat.
All smiles
Khanna takes to the runway wearing one of her white mul kurtas -- and a large smile.
