As the veteran Nina Manuel puts up an appearance at the Lakme Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2012, we draw up a wish list of models who we hope would walk the LFW ramp yet again.
Each season Lakme holds auditions to select new models to walk the ramp for their Fashion Week. As younger models make their presence felt on the ramp, there are some older ones that gradually fade away.
Nina Manuel who had disappeared for the longest time and had got married in New York is back at the fashion week this year. She won't be walking the ramp though she will however be around, hosting shows for their official web shows. Here are some of the models we wish make a comeback to the ramp this year.
The sexy model had started her career with Lakme Fashion Week when she was all of 18 but has preferred to explore greener pastures. Pia Trivedi has hosted reality shows on television and has gone on to become a Kingfisher swimsuit model. In fact she also walked the ramp at the last season of India International Jewellery Week (IIJW).
It was thanks to Lakme that the fashion industry was introduced to the stunning Vipasha Verma (nee Agarwal). The sexy model who has been the face of the fashion brand since 2007 hasn't been seen a lot on the LFW ramp, though she does put up an appearance or two for the finale shows.
We so do wish however to see a little more of this stunning beauty. Who knows? She may perhaps just give in this season!
She recently revealed to us the dark side of the modelling industry and confessed that she is probably looking at easing herself out of the scene altogether.
Yaana Gupta however, is stuff that dreams are made of. When we met the sexy model who's recently turned author and written a fitness book, it seemed to us that even after years of being in the business, she hasn't lost her charm... or that devastating figure.
Now, if only she modelled a beachwear design for Shivan-Naresh.
Yet another hottie we'd give an eye and tooth to see back on the ramp modelling a bikini!
Even though most of us know Angela Jonsson as a Kingfisher swimsuit model, she did walk the ramp last year, leaving us begging for more.
If only she returns once again!
A runner-up at the Miss Asia Pacific contest in 2003, Shonal Rawat has been making her presence felt on the Lakme Fashion Week ramp since 2007 and was part of it till as late as the last season. Even as she walked the ramp every single day at the India International Jewellery Week, Rawat was sorely missed during the Winter/Festive season at Lakme Fashion Week.
The 30-something Aanchal Kumar has been one of the most sought-after models on the Indian ramps. And why not? Kumar has been in the business for over 11 years now.
This also perhaps would explain Kumar's absence from the ramp considering how Lakme's focus has over the recent years moved towards promoting younger talent through its fashion weeks.
Last season, even though Yuvi did put up an appearance at LFW, Kumar was nowhere to be seen. This year too, in all probability, she won't be around either, unless she decides to just drop by for a show or two.
She was the hottie who made a statement with a shaved head a few seasons ago and has been missing from the LFW ramps for the last few seasons.
Diandra Soares is one of the many models who have been dropping off the LFW radar. If she doesn't appear this season -- her name hasn't been listed in the models' line-up -- it will be her third season in the row. Just to see how she looks with the hair back on, we do wish she puts in an appearance!
We spotted the stunning Sheetal Mallar at one of the evening shows at the last season of LFW. She was there, standing out in a really sexy little red dress making heads turn for all the right reasons. And then she left, just as mysteriously as she'd arrived, after talking to just a handful of people and avoiding the media.
But Mallar we know has been busy. After spending decades before the cameras, she's chosen to step behind it. Having seen some of her more recent work, we can assure you, she's been doing some great stuff. Though somewhere deep down, we can't help but wish to see her walk the ramp and set our hearts racing, yet again.
The charming Hasleen Kaur was one of the most recognisable faces at fashion weeks across India. However the former Elite model was recently crowned Femina Miss India Earth and will represent the country at the Miss Earth pageant that will be held in November this year. Unsurprisingly, she wasn't spotted at Lakme Fashion Week last season neither does her name appear in the list of participating models this year.

She was a fairly regular face at Lakme Fashion Week till Bollywood happened. And then we saw her no more. Lisa Haydon has been trying to get a toehold in the industry quite like some of her other colleagues. But we have seen so little of her in the past we wonder what's happening there?
Also, that item song with Sanjay Dutt doesn't really count as a breakthrough. So c'mon Lisa, come back to where you belong. We love you here. We really do...
