Karan Johar, in association with designer Varun Bahl, put up a grand showing of his designs on Day Two of HDIL India Couture Week.
Adding as much drama to his style offerings as he does to his movies, Karan Johar's latest collection, designed in association with Varun Bahl, had everyone at the edge of their seats at the HDIL India Couture Week in Mumbai last night.
Inspired by the elegance of Victorian fashion, the duo offered up 'The Victorian Victor', a line of flamboyant menswear that sported both Westernwear and ethnic 'Raj' garments -- everything from one button jackets, stand up collar shirts and three piece suits to sherwanis, bandhgalas and classic jackets with antique embroidery.
Rich velvet, lightweight wool, tweed, blends and cotton in a flurry of royal colours like royal gold, mud brown, burgundy and checkered motifs made their way down the ramp, which had a Victorian building facade as the backdrop and was flanked by rows of lamp posts on both sides.
Despite the fact that it was a menswear showing, things got off to a start with models in luxurious Victorian gowns and pageboy outfits. Seen here is a glam old-world number in ravishing red.
B-Town heartthrob Hrithik Roshan kicked things off in this military-style black velvet double-breasted coat, worn over a white shirt with long cuffs.
Next we have this cool chocolate waistcoat, worn over a white shirt and striped trousers.
A front-opening velvet jacket shows off rich gold embroidery across one shoulder.
Heavy floral threadwork adds to the opulent appeal of this sherwani-style jacket, worn over pants.
Wearing an embroidered, double-breasted coat with high velvet collar, Amitabh Bachchan creates magic on the runway.
Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan flank Karan and Varun as they close their star-studded show.
But it's not over till the Big B and Hrithik pull Shah Rukh Khan from the audience and break out into an impromptu dance!
