The phone features HSPA+ 3G connectivity for faster data transfers. The smartphone is powered with the slightly outdated Gingerbread 2.3.4 operating system that is expected to be upgraded to Android Ice Cream Sandwich soon.

Nokia 808 with 41 MP camera launched

Featuring a 4-inch AMOLED ClearBlack display, the smartphone packs a 1.3 GHz single core mobile processor.

Nokia has announced the successor of its successful N8 smartphone, named Nokia 808 Pure View, at the on-going Mobile World Congress. The Nokia 808 PureView is expected to be available for 450 Euros (Rs 29,750 approx.) in second quarter of this year in Europe.

The new Nokia 808 PureView smartphone has made its debut with a humongous 41 megapixel camera with PureView Pro imaging technology. It features a 4-inch Amoled ClearBack display that has a 2.5 D curved glass made using the Corning Gorilla Glass technology.

This Nokia smartphone features maximum thickness of 18 mm at the camera module portion and houses a single-core 1.3 GHz mobile processor with 512 MB RAM. Nokia has not disclosed the details of the processor and the graphics chip used as yet. By default the smartphone comes with 16 GB on-board storage and can support up to 48 GB micro SD card.

Nokia has added a big 41 megapixel Carl Zeiss image sensor with Xenon's automatic fill flash. Bearing the f/2.8 aperture, the 41 megapixel camera promises 7728x5354 resolution image in 16:9 format. With the new PureView Pro imaging technology the company has managed to use a technique of over-sampling for crystal-clear and noise-less 5 megapixel image. The superb imaging capability is further aided by a GPU that uses a special algorithm which combines seven different pixel in to a one better pixel. Clearly, users will not have to carry around any point and shoot cameras to get good quality pictures.

The camera also supports up to 4x digital zoom without compromising on the quality. Of course, it allows capturing full 1080p HD videos at 30 frames per second with up to 3x Zoom while for the 720p HD resolution one can go up to 6x zoom.

Nokia 808 PureView will come with Nokia Belle feature pack 1 and also feature Dolby Mobile Plus for 5.1 channel surround sound playback. Better audio has been promised but the phone doesn't support high-quality lossless file formats such as FLAC or WavPack and limits the performance of MP3 audio files to up to 320 kbps only. Of course, uses would be able to use AAC, eAAC and eAAC+ file formats for audio.

Nokia has packed a 1400 mAh battery which obviously appears to be much less against the Android OS based monstrous smartphones available today. Nokia 808 PureView promises 11 hours of battery life on EDGE and 6.5 hours of battery life on 3G networks.

While the 41 megapixel camera grabs the attention, this smartphone also offers a secondary camera that offers 640x480 pixel resolution video. Also the company has used a different processor than its usual ARM11 architecture based one which will directly impact the battery life. Hence, anything above 1500 mAh battery would make this phone last longer.

Set out to be available in White, Red and Black colours, we can expect this smartphone to hit Indian Market in late second half of this year for a price above Rs 32,000.

LG to announce range of Android smartphones

LG will be unveiling much hyped smartphones like LG Optimus Vu, Optimus 4X HD and Optimus 3D max during the MWC in Barcelona.

Smartphone manufacturer, LG is all set to announce its new range of Android smartphones during the Mobile World Congress 2012 which is currently underway in Barcelona, Spain. LG has officially released a pre-launch announcement including the names of all the smartphones that will be launched during the MWC.

The smartphones that will be launched include LG Optimus VU, LG Optimus 3D Max and the LG Optimus 4X HD.

The LG Optimus VU has been officially announced by the Korean company just a couple of day back and the 5 inch display based Android smartphone is a direct competition to Samsung Galaxy Note and Acer Iconia Smart. The LG Optimus VU comes in a 4:3 aspect ratio as against the 16:9 aspect ratio featured on most smartphones, which the company believes helps better handling of the device besides improving its usability.

The LG Optimus VU will come preinstalled with Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread operating system, but an Android Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade has been promised for the device already. Optimus VU will likely to get the Android 4.0 update three months after the launch of the device.

LG Optimus 4X's Nvidia Tegra 3 mobile processor comes with four processor cores and one companion core, which very recently had been marketed by Nvidia as "four plus one". The device features a 1 GB RAM and 16 GB on board storage in the phone. At the rear, the smartphone features an 8.1 megapixel camera with LED flash and in the front there's a 1.3 megapixel camera for video calling and video chat.

The LG Optimus 3D MAX is the upgrade to the earlier Optimus 3D smartphone. At 9.6 mm thickness, the new phone is slimmer than the existing Optimus 3D which is 11.9 mm thick and is also lighter at 148 grams compared to 168 grams of the Optimus 3D. The Optimus 3D Max also comes with a faster 1.2 GHz dual-core CPU, 1GB of RAM and 16 GB of built-in memory.

Currently the Optimus 3D Max will come with Android 2.3 but it is likely to be upgraded to Android 4.0 soon, just like other LG models. One of the best part of the phone is its ability to edit 3D videos and images captured using its pair of 5 megapixel cameras. The phone can also capture normal 2D visuals and videos of up to 8 megapixel resolution.

Optimus 3D Max comes with a 3D capable, 4.3 inch LCD Display that will surely help users take full advantage of the 3D capabilities of this Android smartphone.

MWC 2012: Nokia announces Lumia 610

It comes with a smaller processor and lower hardware specification, but a very pocket friendly price tag.

As reported by The Mobile Indian just a few days back, Nokia announced the cheapest phone in its Lumia smartphone series during the Mobile Word Congress.

Named Lumia 610, this phone will be the cheapest Windows Phone device in the market after the Nokia Lumia 710, which is priced at approximately Rs 15,000. Lumia 610 is expected to be launched in India for about Rs 12,500.

Lumia 610 will be based on Windows Phone Tango, which is expected to be released in April this year. However, the phone will not have low end hardware specifications as Windows Phone Tango requires at the minimum a 1 GHz processor, 256 MB RAM and 4 GB of onboard memory. Along with that the device will also feature a 3 megapixel camera and MMS capabilities.

The device, though, has been announced during the ongoing Mobile World Congress, and it will only break cover after the launch of the next update of Windows Phone called Tango, due in April this year. The company is looking at making the device available globally in the months following April and that is when we will see the actual pricing or more localized pricing for the device in various markets like India.

Motorola unveils Defy Mini and Motoluxe

The Motoluxe and Motorola Defy Mini will hit the Spanish market first and will later make its way to other countries.

United States based mobile communication equipment manufacturer Motorola has announced the launch of two new Android smartphones, the Defy mini and Motoluxe, for the international markets. Both these smartphones will be made available in the Spanish market first following which the handsets will make their way to the other countries.

Both the devices are based on the Google Android Gingerbread 2.3 operating system which looks slightly outdated especially as most device manufacturers have already migrated or are migrating to Android Ice Cream Sandwich.

The Motoluxe features a slim profile and a 4 inch capacitive touchscreen display for easy usage. The device features an 8 megapixel camera at the back that will definitely keep the shutterbugs happy. The phone is great for those who seek style and utility both.

Korean consumer electronics giant, Samsung has announced a bigger version of its Galaxy Note at the Mobile World Congress. The new Galaxy Note comes with a massive 10 inch display and a Smart stylus for keeping things exciting.

But with the addition of a bigger screen, the Note now has lost its calling functionality and becomes rather a tablet.

Huawei announces its fastest phone

The new Ascend D1 Quad phone features a 4 core processor, 12 core GPS, 4.5 inch HD display, 8 megapixel camera and 1800mAh battery.

Huawei has announced its fastest smartphone ever at the ongoing Mobile World Congress (MWC) show in Barcelona, Spain. Named Ascend D Quad, the smartphone will come with a quad core processor and Android 4.0 operating system, along with a host of eye-popping features.

Ascend D Quad features a 4.5 inch 720p high definition touchscreen display with 330 ppi (pixels per inch) resolution. It also features a 16 core GPS (for location) that offers twice the performance of normal GPS, according to Huawei.

The phone has an 8 megapixel BSI (backside illumination) rear camera with 1080p full HD video capture, and it has a 1.3 megapixel front camera for video calling. The phone will come with 1 GB RAM and 8 GB internal memory. Ascend D Quad will also get an 1800 mAh battery, but with a quad core processor. It will be interesting to see how long it lasts on a single charge. Notably, the phone does have Huawei's proprietary power management system, which claims to save 30 per cent power.

The Ascend D Quad has Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound and Audience earSmart voice technology. Besides, it provides 3G HSPA+">HSPA+ with 21 Mbps download speed and 5.76 Mbps upload speed, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0.

Apart from Ascend D Quad, Huawei has also announced Ascend D Quad XL and Ascend D1 smartphones. The Ascend D Quad XL comes with a 2500 mAh battery which lasts two to three days of normal usage. The Ascend D1 runs on a 1.5 GHz dual core CPU and has a 1670 mAh battery.

While Ascend D1 will be available from April 2012, other phones will arrive across the world a few months later.

Nokia's first 4G phone: Lumia 900

The single core 1.4 GHz Snapdragon processor handset will come in the second quarter for 480 Euros (Rs 31,675 approx.)

Nokia has unveiled its new flagship Windows Phone 7.5 smartphone, Lumia 900, at the Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona, Spain. The new Nokia Lumia 900 is an improvement over the existing Lumia 800 in several areas.

Lumia 900 is the first LTE network supporting Windows Phone device from Nokia and will be available exclusively through AT&T. Lumia 900 comes in cyan, white and black colours.
