Asus will launch its quad core processor bearing tablet Asus Transformer Prime with Android 3.2 and a keyboard docking station which transforms it into a laptop in India in the next 15 days with a price tag of Rs 49,990.

Confirming this to The Mobile Indian, an ASUS spokesperson said that the tablet will be launched in the next 15 days with an asking price of Rs 49,990 with the docking station.

The Asus Transformer Prime comes with Nvidia 1.3 GHz Tegra 3 'Kal-el' quad-core processor. The tablet is likely to arrive in the market with Android 3.2 Honeycomb but will also be upgradable to Android 4.0 almost immediately.

The tablet comes with a keyboard dock that extends its battery life to 18 hours. Besides, it has an 8 megapixel camera at the back and comes with 10.1- inch capacitive touchscreen.

The tablet is very slim in profile even with the keyboard dock and has a metallic body.

The tablet has been criticised for poor GPS and Wi-Fi signal. Asus has said that though the GPS signal is hindered by the metallic body, the remedy is already being worked out.

While the Transformer Prime will be much more powerful than any of the currently selling tablets in India, its high price can prove to be a bottle neck in the highly price sensitive market.

However, this tablet can attract a lot of professional as it offers complete laptop experience with extra long battery life. It is also portable as any of the Android tablets in the tablet form.
