Work-life balance: 'It was difficult to concentrate at work'

How do you balance your work and family lives? Tell us

We'd asked you, dear readers to tell us how you strike a balance between your personal and professional lives.

Here Jyothi Satish from Bangalore tells us how she juggles her roles efficiently. Tell us how you do it.

My baby was just seven months when I resumed work after six months of leave.

It was quite difficult to leave the kid behind though I was sure, my son is in the safe and caring hands of his grandparents.

Throughout the day his eyes would be searching for mother.

On the other hand I used to think and hope that everything was fine at home.

I would constantly call to check whether the baby was fine, whether he was crying or not, whether he slept or not.

It was difficult to concentrate at work.

And this is the time when most mothers decide to quit their careers.

The bonding between the mother and the baby is ever lasting but to be financially independent and to meet the demands of the metro life style, working has become essential for women.

Most of the time, mothers become very emotional while bringing up the kid.

However, we forget that kids grow up faster and with time, learn to accept the fact that both parents are working so that they have a better future.

This way, they start enjoying every minute you are around them. At the same time, they learn to be independent at a very early age.

I accepted this fact and went ahead to continue with my job.

Now my son is about four years old and things are better.

I would suggest all working mothers to brave in handling work life balance sensitively and with care.

Women are mentally strong and once they decide, they can deliver miracles.

Prepare and train your mind to balance work and family.

Note that it’s all about prioritising and managing things with the right amount of planning every day.

Be smart in the way you balance the two.

When the mother is smart and organised, kids also grow smarter. This way, the mother also becomes a role model for her kids.
