India's top 10 schools; six from Delhi
In a recent pan India survey conducted by Delhi-based Centre for Forecasting and Research Pvt. Ltd. and Education World magazine, the Shri Ram School in Delhi was ranked first in the country. Read on to find out the other top 10 schools of India.
The annual survey results for the top 10 schools in the country are out.
In the survey conducted by the Delhi-based Centre for Forecasting and Research Pvt. Ltd. and Education World magazine, the Shri Ram School in Delhi has been ranked number one.
The rankings were based on a pan India survey which was conducted across 404 schools across 16 cities in the country.
Respondents, which included principals, teachers and parents were asked to rank these schools on the following 14 parameters, namely -- teacher welfare and development, competence of faculty, academic reputation, co-curricular activities, sports education, individual attention to students (teacher-pupil ratio), discipline and life skills education, infrastructure, value for money, leadership/management quality, parental involvement, quality of alumni/students, disabled friendliness and community service.
Interestingly, the survey revealed that of the 16 schools that made it to the top 10 list, six schools are from Delhi, four are from Mumbai and the rest are from Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Noida. Another interesting aspect is that a couple of them have shared the same number too.
All of these are private run schools. No government school has been featured in the top 100 list. The top ranked government school being Kendriya Vidyalaya, which ranked 166.

1. Shri Ram School, Delhi
Established in July 1988, the Shri Ram School has three campuses spread across Delhi. This includes Junior School in Vasant Vihar, New Delhi followed by Senior School in Gurgaon and Aravali.
The 1.5 acre campus houses a science laboratory, computer and ICT labs, music and dance rooms, lunch room, assembly hall, sports area, a yoga room, performance area and more.
They have staff strength of about 360 members across three sites of which 275 are teachers.

2. Cathedral And John Connon School, Mumbai
Established in 1860, the school is divided into five sections, namely the pre-primary section, the Infant school, Junior school, Middle school and Senior school.
The school is affiliated to ISCE and ISC boards and offers Advanced Placement programme for classes 10 and above.
The school's alumni association has well over 3500 members which include personalities like JRD Tata, Homi Bhabha, film critic and maker, Khalid Mohammed, writer Salman Rushdie, actors Karisma Kapoor, Rahul Bose and the like.

3. Mallya Aditi International School, Bangalore
Established in 1984, the school is named after liquor baron Vijay Mallya and is popularly known as Aditi.
The school is affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi and annually enrols about 550 students from sixteen nationalities in the world.
In 2005, the school was awarded the prestigious Cambridge Fellowship by the University of Cambridge in England, UK. So far, only 20 secondary schools in the world have received this fellowship.

3. Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan, Chennai
The school was formally incepted and co-founded in 1958 by noted educationalist Dr.Mrs.Y.G.Parthasarathy.
When it started, there were only 13 students who were taught under a thatched shed on a terrace flat. Today the school has six branches and has an annual enrollment of over 8000 students and a staff strength of 500 members.
The founder is a recipient of PadmaSri from the Government of India in Education and Literature.

4. Vasant Valley School, Delhi
Started in 1990 by the India Today group, the school was featured in the July 2005 edition of Fortune magazine where the academic excellence of its students were highlighted.
The school is affiliated to the CBSE board and follows grading system against ranking system at the school level.
It has an annual enrollment of about 1300 students and faculty strength of about 140 members.

5. Springdales School, Delhi
The school has five branches, of which Dhaula Kuan, the first one was founded in 1955 by Dr. Rajni Kumar, and her husband, the former being a recipient of Padma Shri.
The school follows the CBSE curriculum of education.

6. Sanskriti School, Delhi
It was formed in August 1998 by the Civil Services Society, which comprises of wives of the civil servants from allied branches of Government of India.
It follows the CBSE curriculum of education and has an annual enrollment of about 2500 students.
The school management also runs a parallel school called Umang, where underprivileged children from nearby areas are provided education free of charge.

6. Delhi Public School, Delhi
The school was established in 1972.
The day cum boarding school is affiliated to the CBSE, Indian Public Schools' Conference and National Progressive Schools Conference.
It has an annual enrollement of about 12,000 students along with faculty strength of over 220 faculty members across its three campuses.
In 2008, one of its principals, Dr. (Mrs.) Shyama Chona was a recipient of the prestigious Padma Bhushan award.

An establishment of Sri Aurobindo Education Society, the school was founded in 1956.
The school is affiliated to the Central Board of secondary education.
When it started, it had only 15 students. Today, it has well over 2000 students under its roll.
