IIT-JEE results to be declared on May 18

The results for IIT-JEE exam for admission to 15 Indian Institutes of Technology held on April 8 will be announced on May 18. Read on for details.

The results of the much awaited Indian Institute of Technology-Joint Entrance Exam 2012 will be announced on May 18, 2012.

This year more than 5.6 lakh students appeared for the Joint Entrance Exam for admission to the coveted Indian Institutes of Technology held on April 8, 2012.

These students will compete for the 9,600 odd undergraduate seats in the 15 IITs, namely IIT-Bhubaneshwar, IIT-Bombay, IIT-Delhi, IIT-Gandhinagar, IIT-Guwahati, IIT-Hyderabad, IIT-Indore, IIT-Kanpur, IIT-Kharagpur, IIT-Madras, IIT-Mandi, IIT-Patna, IIT-Rajasthan, IIT-Roorkee and IIT-Ropar.

Among the other institutes that enrol students based on JEE scores include Institute of Technology at Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi and Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, Rae Bareli, Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research at Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram and Indian Maritime University (TS Chanakya, Navi Mumbai, Mumbai campus, Marine Engineering & Research Institute, Kolkata, National Maritime Academy, Chennai, Marine Engineering and Research Institute, Mumbai and Visakhapatnam)

JEE tests the proficiency of class 12 students in subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. In order to qualify for the All India Rank, a candidate needs to score at least 10 per cent marks in each of the three subjects and a minimum of 35 per cent.

While the minimum marks in the qualifying examination (MMQE) for students belonging to general (GE) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) categories is 60 per cent, MMQE is 55 percent for students appearing under SC, ST and Physical Disability (PD) category.

In its latest press release by Shri E Ahamed, Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Shri E. Ahamed, Joint Admission Board (JAB) announced the following decisions which have been implemented successfully in the Indian Institute of Technology -- Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE) 2012.

Incidentally, 2012 is the last year of the JEE.

As per the announcement by Human Resource Development ministry, JEE will be replaced with ISEET (Indian Science Engineering Eligibility Test) -- a new national level exam that will test class 12 students for their aptitude for science and engineering 2013 onwards.
