The Yamaha Ray Z gets a lot of cosmetic changes which make the scooter attractive to male buyers.

Yamaha entered the scooter market in India only last year and has been able to capture 16 per cent of the scooter market already. The company's first product, the Yamaha Ray, has seen good response with around 9,000 units being sold every month.

The Ray was targeted towards the fairer sex and now Yamaha has launched the Ray Z (pronounced Zee) to target male scooterists. So what is the Ray Z all about?

The Yamaha Ray Z is exactly the regular Ray underneath. This means the scooter doesn't have any mechanical changes at all and is powered by the same 113cc, single-cylinder, petrol engine which produces 7.1 PS of power and 8.1 Nm of torque.

The Ray Z weighs 104 kgs and thus performance is good for city riding and the scooter is claimed to return a mileage of 53 km/l.

The instrument cluster has been given the carbon pattern finish while the seat too gets a similar finish. The rear suspension gets red springs while the grab bar gets a wing look. Yamaha has also given a sticker job to the scooter, including chequered flags (inspired from MotoGP) at the rear.
