Here's what could possibly change in the next iteration of Pulsars to be rolled out by the Chakan-based two-wheeler company Bajaj Auto.
The Bajaj Pulsar has really revolutionised the entire motorcycle industry. The Pulsar brand was first launched in 2001 and is completing a decade this year. Now the basic design of the Pulsars have remain largely unchanged with the chassis being totally unaltered.
Naturally after 5 years, the chassis of any vehicle starts to become outdated, so after 10 years the Pulsar has grown too old indeed. Now there are many problems with the current crop of Pulsars, and it is certain Bajaj will be addressing all these issues and more in the next iteration of the Pulsar.
So what can we expect in the new Pulsars?

Engine
While it is still not certain if Bajaj will use a new 250cc heart in the top of the line Pulsar of a 200cc motor from its partners KTM, it is absolutely certain that the new set of Pulsars will have more power.
The current Pulsar 220 produces around 20 PS of power and the new Pulsar 2x0 (where x is 0, 2 or 5) will produce something in the region of 22 to 24 bhp.
Bajaj will mostly use a single-cylinder unit to keep costs down.

Chassis and suspension
An all new chassis is expected on the new crop of Pulsars. The new chassis is expected to be much lighter than the current one and will help Bajaj to keep weight below the 140 kgs point.
Furthermore, the light chassis will be slight more taut aiding in better handling. Monoshock suspension is expected on the Pulsar as well, which will drastically help the ride of the bike.

Brakes
Bajaj has put in large efforts here and will finally be able to offer rear disc brakes which work flawlessly. The expertise from KTM has been used to design the braking system of the new Pulsars, which will feature front and rear discs and probably ABS as an option on the top of the line Pulsar variant.

The Chakan based automaker has always pioneered the concept of offering value to the buyers. The new Pulsar won't be any different in this regard. Lots of new features are expected on the new Pulsar and we expect the bike to be priced below the Rs 1 lakh price point.
Bajaj will follow a top down approach by launching the 2x0, 180 and 150 variants respectively. Expect the new Pulsars to do what they original did, shake the complete segment.
