Last updated on: July 30, 2014 07:16 IST

To regain its number 3 position from TVS Motor, the Chakan-based two-wheeler manufacturer will soon be launching Discover 150 S and 150 F priced at Rs 64,000 and Rs 68,000 respectively.

Bajaj Auto has changed quite a lot over the years. From launching a slew of bikes under new brand names, the company has decided to restrict its range to only to a few brands like the Discover and Pulsar.

The automaker has a slew of products lined up from both the ranges but has given the Discover series more priority as it looks to increases sales in the highly competitive Indian two-wheeler market where it recently lost its third position to TVS.

Bajaj Auto will soon be launching the Discover 150 which has already reached dealerships. This is not the first time the Discover has got a 150cc heart; the company did sell a 150cc version of the Discover a few years back but discontinued it due to poor demand.

Now the Pune based company wants to re-enter the 150cc commuter space with the Discover although it already has the Pulsar 150 on sale which accounts for almost 80 per cent of sales of the definitely male sub-brand of bikes.

The 150 S is the naked version of the Discover 150 while the Discover 150 F is the semi-faired version.

Both bikes are powered by a 150cc, 4-valve engine but output figures haven't been revealed yet. The single-cylinder mill is mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

The Discover 150 shares its design language with other Discovers (100 and 125) and thus you get a similar exterior styling and the same instrument cluster too.

The 150cc Discover also gets a mono-shock rear suspension.

Aimed at the entry-level 150cc segment, the Discover 150 will take on the Honda Unicorn in this segment.

It remains to be seen if there is demand for an entry-level 150cc commuter bike like the Discover 150.
