When my son (Yash) was young, and till he was seven to eight years old, I used to give him Christmas gifts.

During Christmas, when he was about three years old, we started this ritual where we'd take him to nearby shopping malls or departmental store where (someone dressed as) Santa Claus was around.

It was entertaining for all the children.

After that we used to go home, and once my son was fast asleep, I'd put a gift pack -- filled with chocolates and biscuits of his choice.

I'd keep this gift just beside his bed, so that when he woke up the next morning, he would find it.

The gift, which was well decorated with colourful papers, was labelled 'To Dear Yash, with lots of love from SANTA CLAUS'.

(When he would see the gift), he'd be so happy and full of pleasure and excitement, which is beyond my description.

He always believed that his friend -- Santa Claus -- used to give him this very special gift.

We continued the arrangement till he turned 8 to 9 years old. This period of five to six years was a golden period of X-mas, during which he believed that every year, he was being specially gifted by Santa Claus.

Subsequently, he realised the fact as he grew older.

As a child it was a very pleasant, fun loving and exciting experience.

On the other hand, as parents, this was a wonderful and lovely experience for us too.
