We'd asked you, dear readers to tell us what is the one life lesson you would want to share.
This is what Colonel Virendra Kumar (retd), 60, from Pune shared. You can share yours too!
I am an ex-army officer and this story pertains to my military training.
Physical training is part of military training. It makes you tough so that you can endure physical hardships.
We were supposed to do a 20-feet rope climbing exercise.
I always believed that as I had lean, thin and weak hands, it'd not be possible for me to pass the test.
My instructor tried to explain all the tricks to me, but I just couldn't do the task.
One day, a senior instructor interacted with me after my failed attempt and asked me my reason for not passing the test.
I told him it was because of my lean and thin hands.
He then called one of the jawans, who had half my strength, and told him to do the rope climbing exercise in front of me.
The jawan climbed the rope like a monkey using the same tricks which I failed to apply due to my theory about thin and weak hands.
The instructor told me, 'It is not in your hands, it is in your mind. If this jawan can do it, you can do it as well.'
I got it right. Can you imagine, how much time I took to complete the rope climbing test? I was the fastest in my group!
The lesson I'd like to share is that apply logic, come out of your mental block, learn the tricks if there are any, and you can do just about anything in the world.
