Meet the Audi Sport Racing Bike! And yes she is out of your league.
When the author Elizabeth West (namesake of the former Mrs Rushdie) famously wrote that progress should have stopped when man invented the bicycle she probably hadn't seen this one coming.
Audi AG best known for making those expensive fuel-guzzling machines that go at mind-numbing speed recently unveiled its latest bicycle design in Japan.
It looks like this:
And why are going all orgiastic about it?
Let's see: for one its frame (often the heaviest part of the bike) weighs 790 grams.
Yep, you read that one right -- that's less than the combined weight of five iPhone 6 Plus phones.
The entire bicycle weighs 5.8 kgs.
Like all super-light bikes you can lift it with your pinkie finger and its frame is made of carbon fibre. But this material, T1000, is one that Audi uses it in its racing cars.
Needless to say, all of this comes with a price tag.
This is where we urge you to sit down.
And take a look at the picture of this bike again:
So, the price...
Because of its lightweight carbon fibre material, the Audi Sport Racing Bike has been priced at about $19,650.
Let us save you the trouble of converting.
That's about a little over twelve lakh and fifty five thousand rupees or thereabouts depending on how badly the rupee is getting beaten in the currency markets the morning you decide to buy the cycle :-)
This is what the amount looks in figures: Rs 12,55,000.
And if you still happen to be one of those fortunate people who is able to afford this beauty, you may not necessarily be able to buy it.
Only 50 of these cycles are to be made available worldwide. By request.
