Advice for PGs: Don't litter; avoid smoking

We had asked you, our dear readers, to share with us the dos and don'ts of being a paying guest (PG). Here's is our first response.

Sandeep Biswas whose house is surrounded by number of PG service providers has this advice for the young tenants:

• Respect the fact that you are a temporary resident. Treat neighbours and other PG members with respect.
• Be aware of your civic responsibilities. Do not litter your surroundings.
• Avoid smoking and if you must, don't throw away cigarette butts in the compound or in the common areas.
• Keep your (and your music system's) volumes low. Bringing your friends over and partying into the wee hours of the night may be fun for you but it isn't for others.
• Keep the lights turned off when not in use, especially in the bathroom, toilets, and corridor, etc.
• Don't waste food that has been cooked for you. If you have plans of eating out, have the courtesy to inform.
• Be responsible. Behave in the way you would behave when you're around your family.
