The KTM RC 200 will be launched next year to take on Honda CBR250R
KTM is on a roll in India. The Austrian company is planning a slew of new products which are in the affordable range.
The lower displacement series of KTM bikes are manufactured in collaboration with its Indian partner, Bajaj Auto, at its Chakan plant in Pune. KTM plans to launch full faired motorcycles in India next year.
These bikes will be based on the Duke series. The KTM RC 200 is the full faired version of the Duke 200 which will see an official unveil next week at the Milan Motorcycle Show.
The KTM RC 200 shares its design with the RC 125 and RC 390. The RC 200 is a Duke 200 underneath which means it draws power from the same 199.5cc engine which outputs 25 PS and 19.2 Nm.
Coupled to a 6-speed transmission, the RC 200 will feature taller gearing for higher top speeds. The underpinnings remain the same as well and the bike uses a trellis frame, USD front forks, etc. The tyres and brakes are the same as well.
The KTM RC 200 gets a full fairing along with a new front-end treatment which consists of twin round headlights, fairing mounted mirrors and a windshield.
The side reveals the neatly executed fairing and the new rear-end treatment which is inspired from the RC8. The tank capacity has decreased to 10-litres while the handlebars are now clip-ons.
Rest of the bike remains the same and carries the same tech laden instrument cluster.
The KTM RC 200 will be launched in India next year and is expected to be priced around Rs 1.6 lakh. It will rival Honda's CBR250R. ABS is expected to be offered on the RC 200 which gets a higher seat height and lower front suspension travel.
