Suzuki gives minor updates to the Access to fend off competition from the Honda Activa 125, says Faisal Ali Khan of MotorBeam.com

The Access scooter is Suzuki's best selling model in India. In fact, majority sales of the company comes from Access.

Launched in 2007, the Access has got many special editions over time and Suzuki has finally given its top selling model an update. The update to the Access was much awaited but somehow Suzuki has still missed out on a few things.

The updated Suzuki Access gets minor cosmetic changes but there is nothing significantly different on the scooter. The rear grab rail is now made of aluminium, the exhaust cover gets a chrome plate while a new steel fender is seen at the front.

The Access also gets a maintenance free battery, safety shutter, central locking system, tubeless tyres and a new 3D Access logo.

The Suzuki Access is offered in five colour options: silver, white, black, grey and red. The scooter was expected to get SEP (Suzuki Eco Performance) which made its debut on the Let's 110cc scooter.

This system helps increase economy without compromising on performance. Suzuki is likely to give SEP to the Access in the next generation model, due in 2016.

The Suzuki Access is powered by a 124cc engine which belts out 8.5 HP and 9.8 Nm.

Weighing 112 kgs, the Access has a ground clearance of 160 mm and has a fuel tank capacity of 6-litres.

The scooter has 20-litres of under-seat storage.

Suzuki has three scooters on offer in the Indian market, the Swish being another 125cc offering, sharing multiple parts with the Access while the Let's was a new product launched earlier this year.
