Chef Sabyasachi 'Saby' Gorai has the secret to making your breakfast more enjoyable.

His lovely brightly-coloured Turmeric Smoothie is sheer indulgence in a glass with the goodness of vanilla, yogurt and orange.

A morning treat, the green Matcha Smoothiewill challenge your tastebuds with its unusual flavour combination of avocado, matcha, mint and lime.

Orange Turmeric and Vanilla Yogurt Smoothie

Serves: 1

Ingredients

  • ½ cup diced frozen mango
  • ½ cup orange juice
  • ¼ cup vanilla yogurt
  • 2 tbsp walnut halves
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • ½ tsp haldi or turmeric powder
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon powder
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract or essence
  • 1 frozen banana, chopped
  • Edible flowers, like rose or jasmine, for the garnish, available in some gourmet grocery stores
  • Chia seeds, for the garnish

Method

  • Combine all the ingredients in a high speed blender.
    Blend until smooth and transfer into a glass.
    Garnish with the edible flowers and chia seeds. Serve chilled.

Matcha Avocado Walnut Smoothie

Serves: 1

Ingredients

  • 1 cup low-fat milk or substitute with any non-dairy milk of choice
  • 2 tbsp roughly chopped walnuts
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tsp matcha powder, available online
  • 12 fresh mint leaves, crushed, reserve some for the garnish
  • 2 ice cubes
  • 1 frozen banana, chopped
  • ¼ of an avocado, peel the skin, remove the seed and roughly chop  

Method

  • Place all ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend until smooth.
    Pour the contents of into a glass.
    Garnish with the mint leaves and serve chilled.
