Last updated on: August 09, 2016 13:04 IST

We asked you, Dear Readers, to tell us what is the most wonderful thing your brother/sister has done for you.
Sonia Tyagi Gupta from Delhi tells us how her brother Gaurav has supported her during lean times.

When my brother was born, I hated him!

I was my dad's little princess, and after six years, he came from nowhere and became the apple of my parents' eyes.

I felt left out and alone and didn't like him.

I was dark and ugly and he was picture perfect, fair skinned with golden hair.

Everyone who saw us commented on the contrast of complexion.

With time, I started accepting my ugliness and his beauty.

Time flew. I got married.

He was my anchor in all the difficult situations; always level-headed and more mature than his age.

After 12 years of marriage, I ended up being a widow with a nine-year-old son.

He was my pillar of strength during that time.

With his constant support and counselling, I am now happily married and have a life of my own.

He is a constant in our life. My son is his life.

Thank you brother for being there in my life. Just your presence makes it worth living.

The feeling that you'll be there with me is the most wonderful rakhi gift anyone can give his sister.
