What: The Agency for Science, Technology and Research, Singapore, invites applications from Indian students for the Star India Youth Scholarship
The scholarship will facilitate further education for outstanding students, leading to the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education - Advanced Level.
Scholarship details
~The scholarship will provide a maintenance allowance of Singapore $2,200 (approximately Rs 57,199) at the secondary level per annum.
~ The scholarship will provide a maintenance allowance of Singapore $2,400 (approximately Rs 62,399) pre-university level per annum.
~ You will also get the following:
- Hostel accommodation
- Setting-in allowance
- Subsidised medical benefits
- School and examination fees
- Return economy class air passage at the beginning and end of the scholarship term
~ There is no bond attached to the scholarship. If you do well, you can apply for further scholarships to pursue university studies in Singapore or overseas universities.
Are you eligible?
~ You must be an Indian national.
~ You must have completed your Class VIII in the year of application.
~ You should possess an outstanding academic track record with at least an average of 85 percent.
~ You must have had English as the first language in the Class VII examinations.
Selection method
~ If you are shortlisted, you will be invited to sit for selection tests in September.
~ You will be further shortlisted for an interview in November.
~ Both tests and interviews will be conducted in India.
How to apply
~ Please detach and fill in the form available in The Hindu, printed on June 26.
~ Place it above certified true copies of the following documents in the order indicated below:
- School examination results of Class VI, Class VII and Class VIII.
- A curriculum vitae, not exceeding one page, with your full name, mailing address and personal interests.
- A list of your academic achievements/ awards won.
- Participation in extra-curricular activities in Class VI, Class VII and Class VIII.
