What: The Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages programme deadlines have been extended.

The programme is offered by the British Council in Mumbai, to those interested in training as English teachers or trainers, particularly in the BPO sector or those who deal with adult learners.

Important dates

~ Your application must reach by March 20.

~ The course will run from May 2 to May 27.

About CELTA

The Certificate of English Language Teaching to Speakers of Other Languages is an internationally recognised qualification which will enable you to work in institutions worldwide.

~ It is awarded by the University of Cambridge.

~ CELTA is also a a prerequisite for teaching in the fields of ESL, Business English and Academic English in many countries. Trainees are equipped with the latest based language research and best practices prevalent in native English speaking countries like the USA, UK, Australia, Canada and New Zealand.  

Programme details

~ CELTA addresses the methodological aspects of teaching Spoken English.

~ The duration of the course is four weeks ie 120 hours over four weeks.

~ You will be required to do lesson planning, reading and research.

~ You will have to write four assignments in the evenings and over the weekends.

~ The programme combines theory, through input sessions and practise through practice sessions and assignments.

~ It covers all aspects of teaching pronunciation, accents, language skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing as well as cross-cultural communication.

Are you eligible?

~ You must be a teacher.

~ You could be a trainer who imparts English language and accent training.

~ You must be at least 20 years old.

~ You must have an excellent command of English and must be able to communicate in both oral and the written form.

~ You are requested to apply early as there is a set of pre-course tasks that have to be completed successfully before you will be accepted for the course.
