What: NCPA and Whistling Woods International (WWI) present weekend cinema workshops for film lovers. This workshop will lay a foundation in essential cinema studies.
About the workshops
Providing a greater depth of field is what The National Centre for the Performing Arts, India's premier arts and culture institution, in association with Whistling Woods International hopes to achieve with the launch of a series of weekend-workshops titled Celebrate Cinema Workshop Series.
The workshops will encourage and develop among film enthusiasts a better understanding of cinema. After the first series of film appreciation workshops in August, subsequent workshops through the year, will highlight various aspects of filmmaking such as screenwriting, cinematography, choreography and film criticism among others.
The film appreciation workshops will be conducted by Indranil Chakravarty, Professor of Film Appreciation, WWI, at Little Theatre, NCPA on August 7-8, 14-15, 21-22 and 28-29, from 2 pm-6 pm.
The month-long weekend workshop programme will run all through August followed by one weekend every consecutive month on particular aspects of the filmmaking process. The weekend workshop series aims at exploring recent trends in filmmaking. Focus will be on direction, digital filming, editing, cinematography and will serve as a foundation for a more detailed study of cinema.
