What: The New York Film Academy in partnership with Yellow Submarine Film Pvt Ltd, will conduct hands-on intensive filmmaking workshop in Mumbai, India in May 2011. This is the first time NYFA is conducting a workshop in India.
When: The workshop will be conducted from May 2 to May 28, 2011.
Where: The workshop will be conducted at Lilavatibai Podar School at Santacruz, Mumbai.
About the workshop
The workshop provides an opportunity to gain unsurpassed real world experience to prepare an aspiring student for a career in filmmaking. One can enroll for this workshop to get the best hands-on training instead of just reading books and attending lectures. The workshop is a full-time hands on 4-week course.

This workshop is aimed at students who want intensive training in film making from award-winning faculty, using professional equipment starting their film from the first day of their class. Eligibility
All applicants to this Filmmaking Workshop to be conducted by New York Film Academy at Mumbai must have passed or appeared Class XII under the 10 + 2 system by the time of the course start date. Students must speak English, and express a serious desire to explore the art and craft of moving pictures.
All students must possess the drive and commitment necessary to complete a rigorous, total immersion programme. They must be able to communicate well and work collaboratively with others in an artistic environment.
Fee structure
The fee for the workshop is in two parts.
Registration fee is Rs 20,000.

Tuition + Equipment Fee is USD 3650 to be paid before February 15, 2011.

Subjects to be covered
This programme is structured around the production of three short films of increasing complexity. Classes and hands-on workshops are held throughout the week and some weekends are reserved for additional classes or shooting. Evenings are spent on writing, locations, casting, and editing.
The fourth week is devoted to shooting and editing the final film, culminating in the final screening. As in all New York Film Academy workshops, each student writes, directs, shoots and edits a series of short film projects of his or her own using HD cameras, Lowel lighting packages, and Apple Final Cut Pro digital editing systems.
Classes in directing, writing, editing, cinematography, and production cover the creative and technical demands of telling a story with moving images. Each week all the students' films are screened and critiqued in class with the instructor.
