Was YOUR wedding astrologically auspicious?

Last updated on: November 23, 2011 14:44 IST

Were you desperate to land an astrologically auspicious date for your wedding? How did it pan out?

The Wall Street Journal recently carried a report about 60,000 weddings taking place in Delhi -- all on the same day!

It seems that November 27 is being hailed as the most auspicious day of 2011 and has couples scrambling to tie the knot within those 24 hours.

In fact, several dates this month and in early December are supposed to be astrologically ideal and the Capital is going to see a staggering 1,00,000 unions over the course of this time.

Wedding planners have gone into overdrive as they try to cope with the massive onslaught and the situation is threatening to melt into merry chaos.

Of course, being Indian, we know all too well the effects of astrological directives -- on May 16 last year, Mumbai was reported to have witnessed 50,000 weddings and on November 27, 2009, Delhi saw an alleged 40,000.

But it looks like those record numbers will pale in comparison to this coming Sunday!

Of course, the fact that so many couples are taking the plunge together will mean friction -- you may not land the decorator you want, or the caterer may be too booked up to take your order, or your trousseau may be running late!

Did you schedule your nuptials along similar lines, in a bid to nab an 'auspicious' day and time? If so, tell us the reason and let us know what the experience was like for you!
