Take this quiz and find out!

It is an interesting fact that medical doctors are not trained in nutrition, with no part of their long course dedicated to this subject.

This is despite the fact that nutrition is such an intrinsic aspect of health.

Older or alternative health streams make nutrition the core area of therapies. Today, luckily, many holistic hospitals have nutritionists on their panels to make health integrative and complete.

As the ancient adage goes, you are what you eat: your way of thinking, your energy levels, your moods, your overall health, robustness, even flexibility,  may well depend on your diet.

It is now recognised that what works for one individual may not work for another. Equally, what works for certain sets of people -- belonging to different ethnic groups, for instance -- may not work for others.

The broad approach to nutrition and general categories that has worked till now is thus passe.

For instance, the belief that raw foods are healthy for everyone may not work for those with irritable bowel syndrome.

And while starch may be good for hyper-anxious personalities, it may not be suitable for those with sluggish energy levels.

Fruits may be good for some, but may add weight for those who wish to shed fat.

New ideas in nutrition can thus be mind-boggling and confounding.

Shameem Akthar, trained with the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre, has set this short quiz to tweak your interest in high energy foods.
