The love Ash & Sonam have in common

No! It's not Bollywood nor L'Oreal.
On the Cannes red carpet, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor swear by this British couture house.

When Aishwarya Bachchan Rai walked down the Cannes Film Festival red carpet in a red gown, she commanded attention -- the fairy tale worthy red off-shoulder gown was simply wow!

Designed by British couture house Ralph and Russo -- brainchild of designer Tamara Ralph and CEO Michael Russo -- the ensemble had a fitted corset-styled bodice and Aishwarya completed the look with dark rouge lips and a stunning pair of earrings.

With a ruffled train, multiple layers and that beautiful corset, the gown had all the winning ingredients put together for the perfect look!

Right now, Hollywood seems enamoured by princess gowns -- especially after the release of Emma Watson's Beauty and the Beast -- and the creative duo at Ralph & Russo jumped right into that bandwagon and came out with a winning creation.

This year, the London-based couture house, which was founded in 2007, will complete 10 years in the industry. However, it has achieved quite a lot in that short time span -- it has been the first and only British house to be elected to showcase its collection in the official schedule at the Paris Couture Week.

Enough reason why B-Town divas like Aishwarya and Sonam seem to be fixated with this couture house which has dressed the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie and Rihanna.

However, the red gown that Aishwarya wore to Cannes this year was not her first Ralph & Russo outfit on the red carpet.

Back in 2015, the actor showed some leg in a dramatic Ralph & Russo gown, above, as she attended the Youth premiere at the French Film Festival.

Aishwarya's black and white printed gown which featured multiple ruffled layers and a waist-cinching waist belt was from the fashion house's Autumn/Winter 2015 collection.

But way before Aishwarya began a fan of Ralph & Russo, it was Sonam Kapoor who loved their designs.

Way back in 2015, Sonam Kapoor chose a blue gown from their collection, below, for her Cannes red carpet outing.

In 2016, Sonam Kapoor wore three outfits by the British couture house to the French film festival -- the actor has been championing designs by the British couture house since a long.

Her reasons are simple. 'The brand stands for beautiful workmanship, beautiful cuts and at the same time it's modern as well, so it really works for my aesthetic as style, it was the perfect collaboration,' Sonam told Vogue in an interview.

Take a look at the Ralph & Russo outfits she wore to the Cannes red carpet in 2016.

'They (Michael and Tamara) are very good friends of mine. I spent New Year's with them. I wanted to do something Indian-inspired and they kind of love India and love me. That's why I did jhumkas and a sari-gown, which I think was incredible,' Sonam said in an interview.
