The India-born designer brought out his A game at the home of all things fashionable.

Rahul Mishra has been showing at international fashion weeks for some time now. He won the International Woolmark Prize in 2014 and he is best known for his sustainable design philosophy and contribution to the Indian handlooms and craft community.

Mishra's latest collection was called The Village.

The collection sought inspiration from the village Mishra grew up in.

The garments presented a graphical sketchbook of images of the hamlet and harked back at simpler times when humans and nature coexisted in peace and harmony.

According to the designer, the collection sought to encapsulate the balanced existence of the traditional and modern and brought to life finest fibres, weaves and craft techniques, practiced in villages across the world.

The wool for the garments had been extracted in Gurrundah, a village in New South Wales Southern Tablelands, Sydney and found finds shape and form in the village of Baundpur near Kolkata.

Mishra says his collection attempts to preserve the stories of people, process, and craft.

Mishra who began his fashion week career with Lakme Fashion Week some years ago has gone from strength to strength and is counted amongst India's best-known fashion exports.

The young designer takes a well-deserved bow at the end of his show.
