The Indian designer who made Hillary Clinton ditch her powersuit

Last updated on: March 12, 2018 14:16 IST

The former US Secretary of State ditched her pantsuits for lovely ethnic separates.

Hillary Clinton, who is in India, attended the India Today Conclave dressed in easy separates from designer Payal Khandwala's Autumn/Winter pret collection.

It was a pleasant surprise to see Hillary ditch her favourite pantsuits for an ethnic linen asymmetrical kurta by the Indian designer.

She paired the kurta with brown pants and completed the look with a chunky necklace.

Fashion stylist Tanya Ghavri, who dressed the Kapoor sisters, uploaded a pic of Hillary with Kareena and Karisma. 'Three amazing women I love,' she captioned it.

Kareena kept it classy and chic in an ivory tailored Prabal Gurung power suit with ruffled sleeves and bootleg pants.

Karisma chose a gorgeous black and white dress from Sachin and Babi's collection.

'This happens!! A visit from @hillaryclinton this phenomenal woman and a personal hero! Thrilled to have had the honour to share stories with a lady who has empowered and inspired a generation of women to be strong and to stand up for what they believe in!' designer Payal Khandwala captioned this pic that was taken at her Mumbai store.

In the past, Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton and Canadian PM Justin Trudeau's wife Sophia too have sported ethnic outfits by Indian designers during their visit to the country.

However, both Kate and Sophia chose outfits from designer Anita Dongre's collection
