GBS plans management course for executives

Globsyn Business School will be launching its Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Management programme for executives early next year.

R C Bhattacharya, director, Globsyn Technologies Ltd said, "We will finalising the details by this December. The programme might take off by February 2006."

GBS would be taking in 30 executives in the first batch.

"Around six international B-schools have approached us joint programmes and other possible collaborative work. We have yet not decided on this, but it is a possibility," Bhattacharya added.

He said GBS was presently running joint programmes with Jadavpur and Calcutta universities. GBS was also was working on a post-graduate diploma programme in sales and retail management in association with Jadavpur University.

Meanwhile, 40 of a total of 125 final year MBA students from GBS have received placement offers from companies including IMRB, Metal Junction and Bajaj Allianz amongst others.

"Around 40 final year students have received final placement offers. The highest offer till now has been Rs 3 lakh per annum with the average salary offer being around Rs 2.5 lakh per annum. These figures would record higher values once the placement is over," he claimed.

HDFC Bank, IFFCO Tokyo, Tata Motors, Amul, Ambuja Cements, Peerless, South Asia Petrochem, ING Vysya were among the major companies who recruited students from GBS last year. 

The highest offer last year was Rs 3.5 lakh per year whereas the average salary offered was Rs 2.7 lakh per year. GBS has no plan to increase its student intake immediately.
