Light phone 2 is the kind of phone that every parent would like their kid to have.

With this phone, you can place a call or send a text or even use maps and call for an Uber. What you cannot do, however, is use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat or for that matter, any other social media.

It uses E-Ink (Electronic Ink, a paper like display, with higher visibility and contrast level but relatively consumes less power; the same kind of display can be found on eBook readers like Amazon Kindle) for the display and operates on a modified version of the Android operating system.

The intention was to design a phone that would be used as little as possible, giving us time to go out and do the things that we actually love. They call it 'going light'.

The first version of the Light Phone was launched in 2016.

It only served the purpose of making calls and storing nine numbers. The company sold 10,000 devices, but turns out, they were too simple for many and were not practical for some.

The Light Phone 2 is expected to ship next year and will cost about US$250 (approximately ₹16,241).

The phone has been garnering some positive reactions on social media.

On Twitter user wrote, "That's cool. I still plan on getting one. There is beauty in its simplicity. Keep up the good work".

Another tweeted, "Incredible. Clean and sleek. Looking forward to walking around with things and going light!"
