It is a norm to wait till the end of a review to give the verdict of the phone but for the first time I would like to do away with this norm and tell you that this is a great buy.
The Karbonn Mach One was shared with us for a quick review and I was hooked right from the unboxing and right up to the point that I had to reluctantly give it back for other reviewers and phone enthusiasts to test it out.
Design
The phone has a very lightweight body and smooth texture that feels very pleasant in the hand. While the smooth texture is great from an aesthetic and sensory point of view there is a disadvantage in that it does tend to slip out of the hand. The phone's thickness is again a big plus from a handling perspective but it does tend to make the phone heat up pretty quickly (especially after heavy use such as playing games or watching movies). The buttons are intuitive and easy to reach but there could have been better feedback from the volume rocker.
Performance
Impressed with the performance of this budget phone. Running on a medium processor and a 1 GB RAM the phone was blazing through its many applications that I put it through. Of course the advantage of the Android 4.4 KitKat cannot be overlooked but the phone was more than adequate when it came to multitasking and smooth functioning.
The phone does tend to hang a little bit when pushed over the limit with multiple games and video and camera running -- but it did not freeze.
The battery power was decent and lasts about 12 hours without recharge on extensive use. This could have been a bit better but we are just complaining about a small issue now.
Display
At just under 5-inch of display the phone is large enough to be a pleasure for viewing websites in portrait and playing videos and games in landscape. At 316 pixels per inch at 720X1280 resolution the Mach One has the power to delight and excite for a phone in this category.
Reviewed the phone watching standard YouTube videos in high definition and by going through popular games such as Monument Valley.
Sound
The in-built speakers on the phone are very powerful and pack a punch for all the popular music apps out there. The music played off the phone memory was of greater quality and sound than the streamed music but this difference was minimal. I love this phone for the music capabilities and this helps viewing pleasure as well.
Exciting features
Some of the notable features on the phone include Gesture Control, Wink Capture that I think are very handy and are cool at the same time.
Gesture Control is an app that lives on every screen and with customised gestures can help launch applications from within other applications. This feature tests the multitasking capabilities of the phone but through extensive use it stands tall without any hanging or crashing.
Wink Capture is a neat feature that allows selfie aficionados to capture themselves without using any keys of the phone. A wink at the camera lens will automatically capture the picture. This is very useful at times when you just cannot seem to hit the right button. The feature however takes some time to get used to.
Verdict
At Rs 6,990 the Karbonn Mach One Titanium S310 is a bargain. There are some niggling issues that would make one frown a bit but at this price I think you can compromise on those. We recommend buying this phone for the features, the sleekness and the performance.
