Android lovers, go for iPhone 6! Here's why

November 07, 2014 10:47 IST

Larger real estate, smacking hot operating system, powerful processor and secure environment that the latest iteration of iPhone offers, easily outweighs the advantages offered by Android smartphones, says Shruti Puri.

Till now, iPhone 5S was one of the most desired Apple devices with great features. However, the latest iPhone 6 and 6 Plus not only have upgraded operating systems but are also packed with powerful processors, which will help gamers to play the most coveted high-end games, including the console-type ones.

What's so special about iPhone 6 over iPhone 5S?

1. Design

iPhone 6

While the new Apple iPhone 6 comes with a curved aluminium body and a thickness of just 6.8mm, the earlier 5S came with the standard aluminium body and a thickness of 7.6mm. Thus, the new model has become slimmer with curvier edges. Overall, the looks have changed and the users would love to flaunt it.

2. Display

iPhone 6 has a bigger screen when compared to 5S. While the predecessor came with a 4-inch display size with IPS LCD technology inside and 1136 x 640 pixels resolution, the new Apple iPhone comes with a 4.7-inch display with Retina HD, which is further accompanied by an improved polariser and strengthened glass.

Apple users will get 38 per cent more pixels on screen, enabling them to get a better display output, especially during gaming and browsing.

3. Processor

This is one of the areas where Apple has made a major upgrade. While iPhone 5S was packed with a 64-bit A7 dual-core processor, clocked at a speed of 1.3GHz, the new iPhone 6 handset comes with a 64-bit A8 20nm processor. Thus, users will not only get 20 per cent better and more powerful performance but also 50 per cent better GPU, which will help in multi-tasking, seamless use of apps, gaming and many more.

Reports also indicate that gamers will derive a real-life resolution experience in iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Moreover, instead of using 28nm system architecture transistors, this time Apple engineers have packed the new handsets with smaller transistors of 20nm, thus rendering the processors more efficiency.

4. Operating System

The best aspect of the new iPhones over iPhone 5S is the generational OS upgrade -- from iOS 7 to iOS 8. And the best feature of the latest iOS 8 based devices is that they come with Handoff and Continuity features that are spread across Apple platforms. The new Apple handset will enable users to start and work from one device and continue the same work from another iOS 8 enabled device. The other important features that the owners of the new Apple handsets will enjoy include; Family Sharing, Health Tool, a smarter QuickType keyboard, iMessages, Wi-Fi calling, Apple Pay and many others.

Apart from the above mentioned features, the new handsets have shown excellence in the camera department as well by including some advanced features like Focus Pixels, OIS, improved face detection and exposure control. Not only this, but the company also worked hard in minimising the power consumption.

These are ample reasons to upgrade your iPhone to the latest one, but now the question arises -- why Android users will switch to Apple iPhone 6 or 6 Plus?

Here are the reasons why Android lovers should go for iPhone 6:

It is a well known fact that people, who use high-end Android OS based smartphones, love their phones' larger displays, enormous bouquet of third party apps, Google Wallet and many more features that are built in into the phones.

In the new iPhones the users will now be able to get all the above mentioned Android specific features, apart from the other important features of iPhones.

This development has already made lots of Android lovers to shift their loyalties to Apple devices.

Moreover, iPhone 6 Plus is the first ever Apple smartphone having a 5.5-inch display -- a size that falls into the phablet category. In fact, iPhone 6 too has a larger screen than its earlier avatar, the iPhone 5S.

Thus, users who preferred Android devices because of their larger screens, will get the same but improved experience from the new Apple handset.

Also, many people find the interfaces of Android devices quite difficult to operate in sharp contrast to the interfaces of iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, which come with a streamlined and simpler operating system, thus rendering navigation easier.

In addition to all these aspects, users will get the most secured environment in Apple devices, much better than that of the Android ones.

Thus overall, it can be stated with certainty that a more powerful processor along with the latest iOS 8 environment and features, which include Continuity and Hands Off functions offer more value to the customers over Android high-end smartphones.
