We had recently reviewed the Oppo R5, which is the slimmest smartphone in the world, but Gionee’s S5.5 is still a strong contender in this segment and offers some great advantages for the buyers.

The Gionee S5.5 isn’t the slimmest phone in its segment, but it is a great value for money product to be considered. We get our hands on the Gionee S5.5, which one of the best phones from the Chinese smartphone manufacturer.

Following are the 5 reasons to buy this phone:

Speed

Gionee S5.5

The Gionee S5.5 has an extremely fast processor as it gets a 1.7-GHz octa-core Mediatek processor with a 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage.

This makes it one of the quickest devices in its segment.

Display

The Gionee S5.5 has a full HD display as it gets a 1920x1080 pixels of crisp display. At the moment, all the smartphones have this as the best display. This is a Super AMOLED display that is available only on high-end phones like Samsung.

The glass construction is Gorilla Glass 3, which is again better than most of the smartphones in this segment.

Build quality

Most of the phones in this segment are very plastic. But the Gionee S5.5 is made of magnesium alloy that doesn’t make it look the part, but also make it a lot more better when it comes to the build quality.

You do not find a phone with a metal body unless it is an Apple or a HTC. But Gionee is one of the rear phones to have this character. This makes it look premium.

Dimensions

The Gionee S5.5 is one of the slimmest phones available in the market with a thickness of 5.5mm, despite the fact that it has a Full HD display, 2300mAh battery, powerful processor and even a metal body. The device is lightweight at 135 grams. The aesthetic of this device is very good.

Price

Now, one might assume that the Gionee S5.5 is a good device and this should cost about Rs 25,000+. But in reality it can be bought online for Rs 22,000, certainly a great price offering.

There are some disadvantages of the Gionee S5.5:

There is only one SIM card slot, where others offers dual SIM.

There is no option of an additional memory card, limiting the usable space to only 9 GB.
