Last updated on: May 08, 2015 14:44 IST

LG G4 has surfaced as an upgrade to its earlier acclaimed avatar LG G3 and the latest flagship has amazing updates in all areas, says Shruti Puri

1. Incredible camera

LG G4 comes with a 16MP sensor camera at the rear holding a lens of aperture f1.8. This ultra bright lens is perfect for catching pictures in low light environment. In fact, you can achieve remarkable bokeh shots (when subject remains in focus while its background goes out of focus).

The rear camera is also aided by optical image stabilisation 2.0 and laser autofocus which results in detailed pictures with professional look. The best part is the Gesture function, with which all you have to do is place a clean gesture, say, 'waving hand' before the screen of the smartphone and it will take a shot.

You can also tweak the settings to match your desired configuration for darkness, lightness and even for freezing fast movements of the subject. The settings you can lay hands on are level gauge, ISO, auto-exposure lock, white balance, exposure and shutter speed.

Images can be recorded in JPEG and RAW format.

LG G4's rear camera is also capable of achieving light trail effect; all that you need is to set up the camera at the place, lights of which you want to capture and leave the recording on. The camera will produce amazing light trail shots. What's more is a state-of-the-art infra red colour spectrum sensor that works by analysing and measuring all ambient light before taking a shot. Post shooting, the camera promptly produces vivid, natural looking and aptly balanced pictures.

2. Remarkable piece of art

LG G4's craftsmanship is truly remarkable. With artisanal precision, the back comes in four different options: genuine leather, gold, ceramic white and metallic grey. The textured-hammered pattern array is distinct with chic coloured backs. The classic leather back can be availed in a number of options with exquisite thread stitches.

The colours in which LG G4 flaunts its vegetable tanned leather back are Ceramic White, Metallic Grey, Brown, Black, Red and Gold. The popular slim arc design enables the user to achieve a natural and firm grip.

LG G4's 5.5-inch wide IPS (In-Plane Switching technology) Quantum display ably generates vibrant graphics and high-contrast reception. The display is rich in colour reproduction and realistic in viewing experience. The in-cell touch display technology allows for a smoother, super-responsive feel while making the screen easily viewable even under sunlight. The resolution sported here is Quad HD holding 2560 x 1440 pixels.

3. Power and smartness

With smart notice, you can make your own action techniques to complete routine task. To discover all the available gestures for G4, you can visit Smart FAQ. One can also receive customised recommendations on travel, weather and lot more; all bettered to make daily chores productive and simpler than before.

Visiting gallery has been made simpler with redesigned interface that comfortably organises videos and photos based on location and time. There is even search-by-date function as well. With event pocket, you can easily drop and drag the events right into calendar. Event pocket will provide suggestions over venues and stuff to do, on the event information you provide.

The powerhouse of LG G4 is a 3,000mAh capacity removable battery. There is an adjacent slot for micro-SD card which can expand external storage by up to 2TB. Internal memory of 32GB eMMC may be enough for many to store their favourite stuff. With 3GB RAM, multi-tasking is fun. Connectivity options include NFC, HDMI SlimPort (4K), Glonass, A-GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, USB 2.0 and Bluetooth 4.1 LE (APT-x). Processing engine to the smartphone is 1.8GHz 64-bit Hexa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 with X10 LTE and operating system is Android 5.1 Lollipop.

4. Accessories: Cherry on top!

LG G4 can be adorned with really smart accessories. Wireless charger for LG G4 requires a QuickCircle case to be put on. Besides that the quick circle case has a round cavity on the front flap that makes the display put a circle of apps for quick access.

LG's new Watch Urbane can be connected with the handset for more productivity and ease of use for both the gizmos. The quad beat 3 earphones add to the amazing sound experience delivered by the phone. LG Tone Infinum is perhaps the smartest of all wearable here. It is wireless stereo headset designed to stay on your shoulders' curve meeting your neck. You can make call, receive calls and enjoy every bit of your favourite song.

LG G4 will certainly give a fierce competition to the likes of Samsung Galaxy S6 and iPhone 6.
