All set to shake a leg this New Year's but don't have anything striking to wear?

Designers Shahid Aamir (who created Zayed and Fardeen's wedding trousseau), Sabina Singh (known for her funky, kitsch designs)and Gavin Miguel (famed for his asymetrical surreal styles) share their tips on whipping up a stunning ensemble from the contents of your existing wardrobe.
Shahid Aamir: Accessorise all the way
~ Men, pull out the woollies. "It's the perfect weather and will look really classy."
So get out those turtlenecks and light pullovers.
If you are attending a formal do, then mix and match your blazers and suits for a brand new look.
~ For women, choose from the purple, pink and lilac family as these colours are in.
~ Make your face your fortune this New Year's Eve. Playing up your hair and face can transform your look even if the outfit you have on is simple.
He says, "Play up your features if you have a nice mouth, wear a strong lip colour to draw attention. Dark big eyes and a neutral mouth colour work well for those who want to play up their eyes." If you're really in the party mood, he says you can even pair a striking lip colour with smoky eyes -- it is allowed on New Year's Eve.
~ And work those accessories.

Flashy accessories can jazz up a simple outfit and give it great style -- so get yourself a metallic bag or chunky jewellery.
Sabina Singh: Go retro
~ Sabina believes that if you can't buy yourself something brand new, make the most of something old. "Pair up something from your own wardrobe with a really beautiful old piece from your mother or grandmother's time!" For instance, wear a sexy top with pair of jeans and throw a stole or shrug over it. "Anything with some tassels on it, or something made out of vintage lace will do." Brooches, bags, scarves, all add a touch of retro to make a different statement this year.
~ If retro is not where you're at, Sabina suggests teaming a skirt "that has a bit of glitter" with a jacket. Her fashion tip is a velvet jacket as that is the trend of the moment. "Wear it with a nice camisole inside, " she adds.
~ Want to make a statement with boots? Sport them with care. "Boots that are knee-high look really good on a long skirt but please don't wear them on a very short skirt. That tends to look tacky, " says Sabina.
~ A final tip: "Both guys and girls can wear hats. The drama associated with it is just fabulous. But it has to be worn with flair and style."
Gavin Miguel: Mix 'n' Match
~ That's the key this season when it comes to your wardrobe. "Especially on New Year's Eve you can get away with wearing a combination that you normally wouldn't try out. Go for a mix and match of colours for your outfit, that is what's really working right now, " says Gavin.
~ For the girls he recommends teint lumiere, a luminous foundation that you can apply on your face, shoulders and back. Don't be over generous with it, just apply a subtle dash to give your bare skin a glow. This is available in a variety of brands.
~ For party make-up, he recommends gloss with shimmer on the lips. He explains, "If you have lots of colour in your clothes then your face should have a nude, matte look."
~ Those of you who want to be daring with your footwear, now is the time. Says Gavin, "Stilettos is the only way to go for girls. They look really sexy and New Year's Eve is a night when you can really carry the look off."
