Want to study engineering after Class XII?

Career counsellor Srividya from YoungBuzz, who chatted with Get Ahead readers on May 17, tips you off: "The best colleges for engineering are the IITs, BITS-Pilani and VJTI. You could give the AIEEE, the all India entrance test for engineering for Indian colleges.

Should I choose science, commerce or arts?


 kritika asked, i an interested in persuing biotechnology, but I did not take mathematics in class 12, please guide me on the colleges

Srividya answers, 
You could pursue a BSc in Biotechnology. In Mumbai, it is offered by colleges like Ruia, Ruparel, Wilson, Vaze.


abdaa asked, hey i jus passed 10th i wanna stufy law how 2 go abt it??

Srividya answers, 
After Class XII in any stream, you can pursue a Bachelor's programme in law.


lawragaamit asked, My sis is has completed class XII(PCM) with a very good result. What all can she opt for for professional degree ?

Srividya answers, 
She can pursue engineering or a BSc with specialisation in Mathematics or a BSc programme in IT or Computers.


das_shruti15 asked, if i had done 12th with pcb and computers then sud i go for BCA,and wat r its future plans ,because i wanna go in computer field and i have no maths wat sud i do.

Srividya answers, 
You could pursue a BCA and, post that, you could do an MCA or an MBA with a specialisation in systems.


Adity asked, I am very confused. I have appeared for 12th exam with PCM. i have not cleared in VIT and waiting for AIEEE result but i dont think so that i would get a good college. I am interested in the career related to Maths,Computer,and Physics. But i don't know which course is there.

Srividya answers, 
Opt for career in BCA or BSc IT or Bsc in Physics and, post that, you can do your Msc in any one of the above specialisations.

Srividya answers, 
Opt for a BE with specialisation in IT or you can do a BSc in IT. For the former you need to give an entrance exam and, post that, you can do your Msc or an MBA.


archana asked, which branch is better now ECE or computer engineering archana

Srividya answers, 
Both the fields are booming and, post that, you need to do a Master's programme which will give you better job prospects.


jags asked, what are the options after completing LLB

Srividya answers, 
You can specialise in corporate law, taxation law, intellectual property rights or cyber laws.


avinesh r. asked, I HAD WRITTEN THE X STD., MATRICULATION EXAM (TAMIL NADU) AND AWAITING FOR THE RESULTS. PLEASE GUIDE ME IN THIS REGARD.

Which field are you interested in? If you don't know try and find out either through an aptitude test or by meeting a counsellor.

Unfortunately, all the entrance exams are over. You could pursue a Bachelor's in biosciences, bioinformatics, biotechnology and computers.


nikhil asked, im interested in aeronautical science and im not getting high % in XII is there any way out

Srividya answers, 
Very few institutes offer this course in India. You must give an entrance exam, which is offered by IIT.


udita asked, Hi I am Udita from West bengal.I have got 85.6% in I.C.S.E.I am very disheartened to see my results.I want to pursue a career in Chemistry.can you suggest some ways?

Srividya answers, 
Congrats, it's a pretty good score. You can definitely pursue a career in chemistry. After Class XII, opt for a BE in chemical engineering or a BSc in chemistry and, post that, an MSc with specialisation in chemistry.


San asked, which colleges are good for software engg. ? how much % is required for admission there

Srividya answers, 
You need to give an entrance exam. The best college is IIT, BITS-Pilani and VJTI. You could also give AIEEE for all India colleges.


akshat asked, i am a very depressed guy from bhopal. i got 92% in my X cbse boards, but did poorly in XI-XII, failing in my XII preboards. wonder where will i end up.... i have no hope. i didnit do well in IIT BITSAT and AIEEE was so-so, shud i take drop or join a private college through MPPET?

Do not be so disheartened. You need to approach a career guidance counsellor and get an aptitude test done. This will give you an accurate picture of the other career options available to you.

Prateek Soni asked, hi this is prateek soni i have given my 12 th boards this year iam confuused b/w whether i should take flying as a carrer or become computer engineer

Srividya answers, 
Give the entrance exam for computer engineering. If you crack the entrance, you can continue with engineering. Or register with a flying club if you want to be a pilot.


sria asked, I am really confused whether to pursue English Honours or Sociology Honours? Which one has multi-faceted prospects?

Srividya answers, 
You could opt for both in your third year as a double major and post, take up a specialisation in any one of the fields.
