Class XI admissions: Bombay HC adjourns hearing on PIL against 'best of five'

June 18, 2010 14:08 IST

The Bombay High Court today adjourned the hearing on the public interest litigation petition, challenging 'best of the five' rule for class XI admissions here to June 22.

The admission process will be stayed till then.

The Maharashtra Government had yesterday filed an affidavit strongly defending its decision to issue a resolution this February introducing the 'best of the five' rule for SSC students who are seeking admissions to class XI.

Under this rule, an SSC student will be able to choose five subjects in which he or she has secured better marks.

Parents of some candidates who had appeared for CBSE and ICSE board examinations this year had challenged this rule in a PIL, saying same facility should be provided to them too.
