His first salary motivated him to be an entrepreneur

September 02, 2019 08:30 IST

We'd asked you, dear readers, to tell us what your first salary was and what it meant to you at the time.
Rediff reader John Thomas T, 43 from Jaipur shares his story.

First salary: John Thomas

My first salary was Rs 1,500 in the year 1996.

I had completed a multimedia course from an institute in Jaipur and secured a job as a design faculty.

When our company accountant handed over my salary in an envelope, I didn't even bother to count the money as I was so excited.

I was pretending to be serious in front of everyone but I was unable to control my happiness. I was speechless.

I was so eager to meet my mother and give the envelope to her.

As I drove my Luna moped home, I was constantly checking my pockets, making sure the envelope was intact.

My mother was thrilled. I still remember the tears of joy in her eyes.

I cherish the memory and it brings a smile on my face whenever I think about it.

Today I am an entrepreneur and director of web development company in Jaipur (J2TMedia Web Solutions).

I still believe my first salary of Rs 1,500 was a turning point in my life.

It motivated me to go to the next level.
