An all new bike maker has arrived in India introducing its cruiser bike, the UM Renegade Commando. Team MotorOctane shares the details.
The UM Renegade Commando is UM's first product to attract those who need leisure bikes.
With higher handle bars, long tank featuring the speedometer, the UM Renegade Commando is here to make a difference.
The segregated seating for pillion and rider, massive front forks and foot pegs are set forward.
Is it worth considering?
Here's our in-depth preview of this new motorcycle.
The looks
An 18-litre fuel tank, analogue speedometer on the tank, trip meter, blue dial, halogen head lamp, pillion back rest and neutral gear indicator. This is what is offered with the UM Renegade Commando in terms of features.
There is no ABS at the moment on this bike. The front tyre profile is 110/90R16 and rear tyre is 140/90R15.
There is a two-piston calliper disc brake of 280mm at the front. On the rear the UM Renegade Commando sports a 280mm drum brake.
Biking power
New 279cc single cylinder, water-cooled engine is powering the bike. This engine produces about 24.8bhp of power and a maximum torque of 22Nm.
A six-speed transmission comes bolted to this engine.
A 41mm hydraulic telescope suspension for the front and the rear has twin hydraulic with spring type.
Vs Royal Enfield Thunderbird?
As this is a cruiser bike, it will be competing with Bajaj Avenger and the likes of Royal Enfield Thunderbird.
Now, as the company is targeting leisure biking, RE will be one of the key competing companies.
As UM doesn't have a strong reach yet in India, it might struggle to reach out to many cities.
Affordable?
The UM Renegade Commando comes at about Rs 1.72 lakh (on-road, New Delhi). The company is targeting new bike riders for whom affordability is the key.
The brand is looking at enhancing its reach in the market with its competitive pricing.
