Apache RTR 200 4V and 2016 Victor: TVS's double dhamaka

TVS Apache RTR 200 4VTVS Motor on Wednesday launched its highest capacity motorcycle yet in the form of the Apache RTR 200 4V, and revived an old and popular model name with the launch of the 2016 Victor.

The 200cc Apache will hit the roads at prices beginning from Rs 88,990, while the 110cc Victor will compete with frugal machines in its segment with a price tag of Rs 49,490.

The new Apache, now the flagship model of for the Chennai-based company, will be powered by a 200cc four-valve, oil-cooled engine, derived from its younger sibling the Apache RTR180.

It comes with the option of a carbureter or electronic fuel-injection system (EFI). The RTR 200 has been styled to be an aggressive naked, and is inspired by the TVS Draken concept.

The TVS Apache RTR 200 4V will produce 20.23bhp of maximum power in carbureted form and 20.7bhp at 8,500rpm for the EFI (electronic fuel injection) variant, respectively, while generating peak torque of 18.1Nm at 7,500rpm. This power is translated into performance via a 5-speed gearbox.

TVS claims the bike will go from 0 to 60kmph in 3.9 seconds, with a top speed of 130kmph. It gets an optional dual channel anti-lock braking system (ABS) to ensure safety and control during braking via the petal-shaped disc brakes at front and rear.

It will come in three variants and will be available in seven colour options: matte black, matte grey, matte white, matte red, matte yellow, gloss white and gloss black.

TVS Apache RTR 200 has been priced at Rs 88,990 for the carbureted version and Rs 1.07 lakh for the fuel-injected version and Rs 1.15 lakh for the ABS and Pirelli-tyres equipped model (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).

Meanwhile, TVS also brought back to life its Victor brand on Wednesday, with the launch of the 2016 TVS Victor.

The commuter motorcycle is powered by a segment first 109.7cc, 3-valve engine, which produces 9.6PS of maximum power at 7500rpm and 9.4Nm of torque at 6000rpm. Built on a single cradle tubular frame, the motorcycle gets telescopic oil dampened suspension up front and 5-step hydraulic series suspension system at the rear.

The 2016 TVS Victor is available in two variants priced at Rs 49,490 for the drum-brake version and Rs 51,490 for the disc brake variant.
