Beyond the hustle and bustle of the city, the pollution and the traffic snarls, one often finds people wandering on the beaches of Mumbai to get away from their everyday chaos.
Nothing compares to the calm one feels just watching the sunset, hearing the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks or taking a walk on the beach with a loved one.
However, Mumbai's beaches have more to offer -- just take a closer look and you'll discover some amazing stuff beneath the water.
A photographer's dream come true, the sea offers some joyful images of hermit crabs washed ashore, the stunning blue button jellyfish called porpita porpita, corals and goose barnacles, which are distant relatives of crabs and lobsters.
Sejal Mehta, Consultant Editor, Marine Life of Mumbai says, "When one of the founders of Marine Life of Mumbai invited me for a shore walk, I went to see what the fuss was about and fell in love with the sea."
Today, Sejal conducts shore walks, which are attended by enthusiastic Mumbaikars.
"We usually have different types of walks where we introduce first timers to the shore to establish a connect to the ocean.
"Come, walk the shore, go tide pooling and explore the beaches. It's not really about saving anything because you can't. The ocean doesn't need us, but we need the coast and that is why we are fighting for it," she adds.
