Chronic/frequent dieters find it hard or are unable to lose weight and maintain it. The reason behind this is that each time we lose weight, our metabolic rate drops and the body slows down and hoards calories, making it harder for us to lose weight the next time around. Fad diets constitute a short-term, quick-fix approach to weight loss and do not work over the long haul. These diets tend to overpromise results but fail to deliver.
The food choices they offer are monotonous and the caloric intake restricted, which ends up wearing off the motivation to continue. Such faddy regimens neither encourage healthy eating nor establish safe and permanent weight loss.
An overload of confusing, conflicting and contradicting details about food and theories of weight management often result in failure. Disillusioned by diets, many get demotivated and give up.
