The Union Public Service Commission cancelled the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination for Public Administration held on May 14 following a discrepancy in tallying the number of question papers at one of the examination centres.

A re-examination for the subject would be conducted on June 18, an official release said.

Though no complaint or allegation of leakage or any malpractice was received, the examination has been cancelled to ensure total confidence in the minds of the candidates in the integrity of the examination process, it said.

The UPSC has also ordered a detailed inquiry into the entire episode.

The details of the venue, date and time of the re-examination and admit cards are being mailed to the candidates by the Commission, it added.
