Jayam Ravi

The second surprise hit of 2003, after Kaadal Kondein, was Jayam. Like Kaadal Kondein, the team behind the Telugu hit Jayam, was a father and his two sons.

Editor Mohan chose to launch his 23-year-old son Ravi as actor and elder son Raja as director. The film was such a hit that Ravi is now known as Jayam (victory) Ravi!

Ravi performed his arangetram in Bharata Natyam at the age of 12 and a three-month acting course at Kishore Namit Kapoor's Acting Institute in Mumbai. He also acquired a degree in visual communications.

Ravi sticks to films made under his family banner. His next Tamil film will also be directed by brother Raja. He has no plans to capitalise on his current status and sign all the films that come his way. He plans to do films that have good stories.
