Mohanlal takes Ramgopal Varma to court
Madras High Court on Saturday directed the distributors of the Hindi film Road, to withhold Rs 20 lakh from the amount due to its director Ramgopal Varma, until further orders in a case filed by Malayalam actor Mohanlal.
Justice R Balasubramaniam also ordered issuance of notices, returnable by October 7, to M/s Vyjayanthi Movies, Varma Corporation Production, Mumbai, producer Boney Kapoor, Director Ramgopal Varma, Aswini Dutt and M/s Adlabs Film ltd, the distributors.
In his petition, Mohanlal submitted that he had acted for a remuneration of Rs 50 lakh in Company, directed by Ramgopal Varma. The director and producer had paid him only Rs 36 lakh and issued a cheque for the remainder, agreeing to clear it after the release of Road. Read on...
